My service portfolio is positioned at the interface between research and practice.
I support clients facing complex technical and methodological challenges that require the integration of scientific rigor and applied traffic engineering. In this role, I develop practical and robust solutions, particularly for research-driven projects and complex planning environments.
Applied Research & Strategic Project Roles
I take responsibility for challenging applied research and traffic engineering projects, providing technical leadership throughout all project phases.
- Holistic project management: I structure and lead projects and work packages from initial conception through operational execution to project completion.
- Strategic process consulting: I support requirements analysis and system design for modern ITS architectures and digitalisation initiatives.
- Technical coordination: I bridge academic partners, industry and public authorities by structuring technical interfaces within complex research consortia.
Specialized Services & Technical Expertise
When established approaches are insufficient, I provide specialized expertise and advanced technical tools.
- Adaptive control methods: Developing and evaluating multimodal control strategies, ranging from established approaches to multi-objective, data-driven, model-based and AI-supported methods.
- C-ITS & V2X connectivity: Design and specification of cooperative systems for data exchange between vehicles and infrastructure.
- Simulation & process automation: Evaluating complex, multimodal traffic scenarios using microscopic traffic flow models (e.g. PTV Vissim). Developing Python-based toolchains and COM-based automation for efficient analysis, assessment and system integration.
Knowledge Transfer & Professional Training
Building on several years of teaching experience and formal recognition through the Teaching Award for Advanced Education awarded by the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences at TU Dresden, I design and deliver professional training formats for specialist staff.
- Technical workshops & training: Design and delivery of tailored training formats covering traffic control, traffic signal planning, simulation (e.g. Vissim), C-ITS technologies, and data- and model-based methods.
- Practice-oriented knowledge transfer: Translating complex content into practical insights with a clear focus on real-world planning and operational requirements.
- Didactically designed training formats: Designing and applying appropriate teaching and learning formats to support sustainable competence development within project and planning teams.
- Bilingual Delivery DE/EN: Training sessions and materials in German or English.
Established Planning Services
Alongside specialized and strategic tasks, I deliver established traffic engineering services, applied in a targeted, project-specific manner.
- Traffic signal design & optimization: Development and delivery of approval-ready traffic engineering documentation, including design, parameterization and implementation of rule-based, actuated signal controllers using LISA+, in accordance with applicable guidelines (including RiLSA and HBS), covering HOAI service phases I to V.
- Traffic engineering analyses: Capacity analyses and scenario comparisons for intersections and networks, providing a sound basis for planning and traffic management decisions.
- Modelling & validation: Development, calibration and evaluation of microscopic traffic flow models for the robust assessment of traffic engineering measures and planning alternatives.
