Roles and Responsibilities

Project Lead
A recurring focus of my work is leading projects that translate scientifically developed methods and systems into robust operational applications under real-world conditions.
Technical Liaison
Within interdisciplinary consortia, I act as a technical point of contact and mediator between research, planning practice, industry and public authorities.
System Developer
I contribute to the conceptualization, design and functional integration of traffic engineering systems within existing technical environments.
Committee Work
Through participation in committees and working groups, I contribute to the development of traffic engineering concepts, methods and standards and remain closely engaged in current professional discourse.
Tools and Methods
I use established traffic engineering tools not merely in an application-oriented manner, but as integral components of systemic development, evaluation and automation processes.

LISA+
- Development, parameterization and evaluation of rule-based, actuated traffic light control
- Analysis of effects, limitations and side effects of different control strategies
- Development and qualification of control approaches for operational deployment within research projects
- Technical concept development and system integration of LISA+ signal controllers within complex environments
- Key subject of academic teaching and supervision

PTV Vissim
- Development, calibration and validation of microscopic traffic flow models
- Analysis and evaluation of complex, multimodal scenarios and alternatives options
- Use of the COM interface for automated analysis and sensitivity studies
- Training and testing environment for advanced signal control approaches

Python
- Automation of analysis and evaluation processes
- Development of interfaces and workflows for simulation coupling
- Processing and evaluation of simulation and field data
- Application in hands-on courses and student projects
Knowledge Work and Transfer
Academic Teaching
University teaching, practical courses and the supervision of student work were closely linked to my research activities. Supported by continuous training in higher education didactics, my teaching followed the principles of constructive alignment and an activating teaching approach. In 2025, my teaching was awarded the Teaching Award of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences at TU Dresden.
Structured Knowledge Work
The systematic structuring, documentation, and long-term availability of knowledge form a consistent element of my work. I prepare complex methods, tools, and workflows in a way that ensures they remain transparent, reproducible, and independently usable – both in research and teaching contexts as well as in project-based applications. The development and continuous maintenance of a wiki for the structured documentation of project insights, methods, and workflows formed a central part of my academic work and continues to shape my professional practice as an independent engineer.
Bilingual Technical Communication (German / English C2)
The bilingual communication of technical content is a natural and integral part of my work. Particularly at the interface between research and practice, it enables the alignment of international research findings with national planning, administrative, and implementation contexts. This allows complex technical content to be communicated precisely and coherently both to scientific partners and to public clients, planning consultancies, and authorities.
Professional Background
My professional background combines a rigorous engineering education with more than ten years of experience in transport engineering across research, planning and system development.
